So you want to learn a bit more about what the Arctic Fox Winter Stage Race has in store for March 2023, eh?! If you didn't participate in the AFWSR last year, don't worry it's going to be nothing like it (well, not really)! This year we have teamed up with Foothills Wanderers Orienteering Club to so we can share the best of orienteering and adventure racing with each other's community.
This year's race will be a single-weekend, face-to-face event happening on March 4th & 5th, 2023. Saturday will lean towards more of a traditional orienteering event (on foot) with elements and structure of an adventure race, while Sunday will be similar but on bikes.
Our goal is to create an event that is accessible for the first time adventure racer and have equally challenging elements for those that have adventure raced in the past. Given that this will be an in-person event, we'll be starting each Stage en masse at 12:00pm each day. The location of the start line and area of the race will be within the city limits of Calgary, Alberta. For folks travelling from out of town, staying within Calgary will give you each access to the race. More information and details will be released in the coming weeks. The race course will be open until 4:00pm each day, although the race is designed to have racers finish within the time cap.
