FAQs - Rocky Mountain Adventure Race
What can we expect at the Rocky Mountain Adventure Race?
The Rocky Mountain Adventure Race is a 6-9 hour wilderness adventure race in the Canadian Rockies. This is a real adventure race designed with the first-time adventure racer in mind - that said, even experienced adventure racers can expect to find challenge in this event.
Is the course the same for everyone?
Yes, to a degree. We will plan an advanced section of the course for those teams that make it to the finish line in a given amount of time. Don't worry if that isn't you! It just means you might be first in line for food and bevvies!
How do you know we’ve made it to each checkpoint (CP)?
Each team will be issued a 'control card'. This card will have a spot for you to either 'punch' the card with a special hole-punch, or our wonderful volunteers will sign your control card individually. At the end of the race we'll compare your control card with a master copy to ensure you've made it to the necessary checkpoints.
I'm new to adventure racing, is this for me?
YES, this race is for you! Our primary goal is to grow the adventure racing community and we've designed a race for the first-time adventure racer in mind. Still a little unsure? That's okay, just check out our Master Classes to help build your confidence in adventure racing.
Navigation? I get lost in my own house!
Well it’s a good thing that the race is still a few months away! We’ll be hosting a handful of small-group navigation clinics in the near future. Keep an eye on our Master Classes page for more details. Remember, our goals is to create safe and challenging events for athletes of all abilities, so a basic understanding of how to read a map and use a compass will go a long way.
What categories are there on Race Day?
Our goal is to be as inclusive as possible when it comes to our community. As a result, we will have Male, Female, Co-Ed and Mixed categories for all our races. We see you, and you belong in our events!
Can I use my e-bike?
Though our goal is to be as inclusive as possible and grow the love of adventure racing, we won't allow e-bikes in this particular race. From time-to-time, we'll send you off on bike trails that don't allow for e-bikes and as such, can't allow them in the race.
